General Description:-
This is a huge all singing all dancing site with several bars and restaurants, a fish and chip shop, a Chinese takeaway, amusement park, indoor swimming pool, laundry, launderette and just about everything you can think of for a holiday full of entertainment and activity without the need to leave site. If you want to leave site a huge soft sand beach is yards away. The pitches are large and well cared for, I am writing this at 17:00 on a Sunday afternoon and the groundsman has just stopped running round with his various VERY noisy machines that he has been working with for the last four hours. We like well cared for pitches, but Sunday afternoon is when everyone likes to have an afternoon snooze??
We went to one of the bar/restaurants the first evening when a Dolly Parton tribute band were scheduled to play. We arrived at 7.30, a warm-up band were playing and every seat in the place was taken, it was squashed in the corner room only. One (very) quick pint, to me at £3.00 it seemed expensive but I’m told that is cheap, and we went back to van. It seems if you want a seat for a popular event you need to book it lunchtime and still turn up early to claim it.
If Hi de Hi’s Maplin Sands is your dream holiday then this is definitely the place for you.
Toilets and Showers:-
The showers and toilets are modern with underfloor heating and are well cared for by the staff, pity the same cannot be said of the clientele. The showers are huge and each contains, as well as a shower and changing area, a toilet and wash basin. The water in the showers varies from just right to bloody cold, changing rapidly and frequently
Laundrette:-
The launderette had three washing machines and four dryers and are charged at a reasonable rate, when working.
Wash-up Area:-
There was a small but practical was-up area.
Restaurant:-
There is a restaurant for everyone on this site, Chinese, Indian, fish & chips, you name it there was restaurant and/or on site selling it.
Supermarket:-
There is a well stocked “Costcutter” supermarket on site.
Conclusion:-
This is a well run site with pleasant helpful staff and if you like lots of programmed entertainment you will love the site. We would certainly use it again if in the area but not, repeat not in the high season.
Price:-
The site is an ACSI member so we used our card and paid the discounted price of €68.00 for our four night stay, just £15.02 per night.
